Happy New Year!

It's been a busy old festive season at The Lucken. The dolphins put on a hogmanay show for our guests who chose to herald in the New Year at Auchmithie. But now it's out with the old and in with the new. The Christmas decorations are packed away and we've already welcomed our first guests of 2019, all the way from Devon!

What better way to kick start January than with a bracing walk by the coast. We took a circular route from the fishing village of Ferryden in Montrose. There are stunning sea views all the way and a particularly good vantage point from the ancient cemetery at Boddin Point. Here you can see the grave of George James Ramsay, infamous for an error on his headstone that indicates he died before he was born (1859 - 1840!). It's a mystery as to how the mistake was made and why it was never corrected.

We've been so lucky with the weather so far this winter. There's been no snow and hardly any hard frosts. Fingers crossed that continues, then there's no excuse for ditching our new years resolution to explore more of the bracing walks in and around Angus!

Happy tramping!

Cheryl and Nick
