Local painter George transformed the cottage from a rather dingy mustard to it’s nautical but nice colours.
At last, after three long months of wallpaper stripping, sanding, varnishing, hammering and banging, The Lucken is ready for its new life as a holiday cottage.
We are looking forward to welcoming our first guests to our getaway with a view in the next couple of weeks.
We test drove The Lucken last weekend and it was lovely to take time to sip some bubbly in the garden, watching the seagulls swoop and the sea crash against the shore. We ate our breakfast outside (in one of the rare sunny hours of this rather soggy summer!) and climbed back up the hill from our beach walk with our pockets weighed down with pretty stones. (you’ll find them dotted around the garden). We enjoyed a lobster dinner with sumptuous puddings from the Butt n Benn. The meringue and pineapple gateaux is a firm favourite! Falling asleep to the sound of the waves was an added bonus.
It’s lovely to know The Lucken will be there when we need an escape, but we’re hoping it will be booked up with guests!
